About Paul Hill – Sculptor

View Paul Hill’s sculpture, “Without Prejudice,” in the courtyard of Art in Bloom Gallery, 210 Princess Street.  Paul writes, “It is made from Corten Steel, which is the same type of steel used in building bridges, so it is quite strong and will last many years. I have stained the raw steel with a dark metal oil. Once the oil dried, It was then covered with a coat of brown sculpture wax to help maintain and enhance the beauty and history of this steel.”  Paul also shared that he was thinking about body image when creating the sculpture, e.g., the profound impact of a mastectomy on body image, and other experiences people have related to body image.

For the 2018-2019 cycle of the Pedestrian Art Program, Art in Bloom Gallery is delighted to partner with the artist, Paul Hill, with the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County, and with the City of Wilmington, NC.
