Don’t miss this introductory workshop taught by award-winning artist and illustrator Mark Weber! Mark will introduce and demonstrate oil painting materials and techniques, focusing on plants and natural subjects, working from both still life and photographs.

Mark is internationally recognized for painting vibrant whimsical animals set in lush tropical settings, as well as moody, dream-like pieces rendered in ink and wash. Nature and it’s relationship with humankind is his main inspiration for his work. Mark’s illustrations weave a variety of approaches accumulated over the years, using a variety of mediums including oils, ink, watercolor and acrylics.

Students will bring their own supplies (see list below)

3 Canvases or canvas boards –   8″ x 10″

Paints: Cadmium Yellow Light, Ultramarine Blue, Warm blue such as Cerulean or Thalo, Cadmium red or Cadmium red light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt umber or raw umber, Titanium white.

Brushes: Variety of size small, med, large filbert and/or flat brushes.  (3-5 brushes are plenty)

Photos: At least 2 photos of a plant/flower in natural setting.

Easel: Table top (table easels are also available for loan if you need to borrow one)

Other:
• Metal palette knife ,
• Palette (freezer paper work fine)
• Paper towels
• Odorless Turpenoid (no turpentine) for oil painters and small container with screw top for Turpenoid

This class is for beginners and advanced beginners.
