WORKSHOPS
Painting from LifePainting still-life is a wonderful way to hone your painting skills and is a foundational tool for painting all subjects, including landscapes and figures. In this 3-day class, you will explore light, color, three-dimensional form, hard and soft edges, creating depth in the picture plane, and composition. The instructor, gallery artist Joanne Geisel, will provide exercises in color theory and color mixing, give demonstrations, and offer both individual and group instruction.
This class will meet at 10am – 2pm each day from Monday, November 10th – Wednesday, November 12th. Though Joanne will demonstrate in oil, this workshop is designed for oil and acrylic painters of all levels! Tuition for the class is $260.
Supplies Required:
Stretched canvas or canvas boards: 8″ x 10″, 9″ x 12″ or 11″ x 14″ – One canvas for each day of class (total of three)
Paints (Oil or Acrylic): Cadmium Yellow Light, Ultramarine Blue, Warm Blue (such as Cerulean or Thalo), Cadmium Red or Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Umber or Raw Umber, and Titanium White
Brushes: Sizes 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 Silver Bristlon flat preferred
Other:
- Metal palette knife
- Palette (disposable paper palette or freezer paper are fine)
- Paper Towels
- Smock
- Pencil
- Plastic gloves (optional)
- Color wheel
For Oil Painting:
- Odorless Turpenoid or odorless mineral spirits (No turpentine)
- Small container with screw top for Turpenoid
