WORKSHOPS
Oil Painting from LifePainting the still life is a wonderful way to hone your painting skills and is a foundational tool for painting all subjects, including landscapes and figures. You will explore light, color, three- dimensional form, hard and soft edges, creating depth in the picture plane and composition. The instructor, gallery artist Joanne Geisel, will provide exercises in color theory and color mixing and give demonstrations and lots of individual and group instruction.
Supplies:
Stretched canvas or canvas boards: 8″ x 10″, 9″ x 12″ or 11″ x 14″ – One canvas for each day of class (total of three)
Paints:
Cadmium Yellow Light
Ultramarine blue
Cadmium red light
Burnt Umber or Raw Umber
Titanium white
Warm blue such as Cerulean or Thalo
Alizarin Crimson
Brushes:
Sizes 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 Silver Bristlon flat preferred
Other:
Metal palette knife
Palette (disposable paper palette or freezer paper are fine)
Paper Towels
Odorless Turpenoid or odorless mineral spirits (No turpentine)
Small container with crew top for Turpenoid
Smock
Pencil
Plastic gloves (optional)
