SUPPLIES: All supplies for the workshop will be provided.

This 3-hour workshop is designed for beginners. Explore the colorful medium of sand art with artists Janna & Jessie Robertson to create your own sand art terrarium! The instructors will provide demos, individual and group instruction to teach you fundamentals of artwork and landscapes in sand. Choose from a river, ocean, or mountain design and top your landscape with living plants to create your own terrarium. These will make perfect decorations or gifts! All supplies, including glass containers, colored sand, and live plants will be provided.

Janna & Jessie Robertson are a mother-daughter duo creating artwork in Wilmington. A longtime educator, artist and activist, Dr. Janna Siegel Robertson founded the Community Art Collaborative NC in 2022 to continue her large-scale community art projects through the Cape Fear region. Beyond her work behind the Forest of DREAMS and Black Lives Do Matter! art installations, Janna has always had a flair for creating fantastical art in a variety of media. This includes her years of experience making sand art terrariums as gifts and by commission.

Jessie Robertson is an Art in Bloom Gallery Specialist, documentary filmmaker and visual artist, who has shown her frog art at Art in Bloom Gallery since 2019. A recent Studio Art & Digital Arts graduate from UNCW, Jessie explores painting and sculpture to highlight the frog species she loves and contributes to amphibian conservation efforts worldwide. By combining her arts background with Janna’s experience in education, Jessie is excited to introduce sand art to beginners and artists alike.
