About the Series:
I came upon a threadbare quilt from India which was made from old sari fabrics. It reminded me that there is beauty to be found in discards.
Having been to India after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and having seen numerous sumptuous sari, I knew there had to be many washed out to sea along with the other debris.
The fisherman’s crab nets featured here capture remnants of saris sourced from my found quilt. Imagine, whole collections are adrift in the Pacific gyres. These nets bring us glimpses of treasures from that watery world.
