Maid of the Waves

The mermaid in Scottish Gaelic is known as “maighdean na tuinne”: the “maid of the wave.” This slippery lass swam into being when a wavy watch band & key washed up on my workstation. Handcrafted from metal, watch parts & found objects, this maid is not a toy, it’s wearable art. A fabric pouch keeps her safe, nestled inside a box fashioned from recycled wood & vintage upholstery nails. She may be elusive, but once she slips into your net, this maid will bring joy to anyone brave enough to capture her!
